Our Model

CICAN provides a multisensory cultural experience for local school children.

CICAN pre-arranges a school visit with international children's art acquired through collaboration with international non-profits. One country is featured per visit, and the art is viewed and discussed in a cultural context.

CICAN hosts a local cultural representative who reads a story reflecting his/her culture and speaks and answers questions about his/her culture.

CICAN brings a cultural box from the World Affairs Council. The box contains dolls, clothes, spices, coins and various indigenous items to be shared with the students.

CICAN assists with a culturally based art project to be created by the school children. This reinforces their awareness and experience of the culture and brings full circle the origins of CICAN's program.
